North Dumfries Municipal Heritage Committee

The North Dumfries Local Architectural Conservation Advisory Committee (L.A.C.A.C.) was formed in 1984. Its primary purpose is to advise Council on heritage matters. The Committee has since changed their name to the North Dumfries Municipal Heritage Committee.

The most well-known function of the North Dumfries Municipal Heritage Committee is the designation of buildings as historical landmarks in the Township as sites of historical and architectural significance. They represent many levels of history; stately stone houses, log homes, one-room schoolhouses, and even barns are among the buildings now recognized and protected under the Ontario Heritage Act. You can see these buildings on our Ayr Walking Tour. Also check out the Roseville Walking Tour.

North Dumfries Municipal Heritage Committee members are volunteers appointed annually. Each must either live in, or have a vested interest in, the Township of North Dumfries.
